BI Norwegian School of Management offers industry executives education programmes to help develop their management skills and increase their industry knowledge.


BI Norwegian School of Management is a private, not-for profit foundation (founded in 1943) providing knowledge and competence to the private and public sectors. Executive MBA in Energy

The Executive MBA in Energy allows students to develop their general management skills and update their knowledge of current energy issues. The programme is offered by BI Norwegian School of Management in Oslo, Norway, in partnership with Nanyang Business School, NTU in Singapore and IFP School in Paris. It consists of six, two-week modules conducted over a period of 18 months. The programme starts in January 2011.

The three partner schools each contribute their specific expertise, based on excellent research and strong links with energy industries, intergovernmental organisations and public authorities worldwide. The programme enables students to:

  • Replenish their toolkit of management techniques while focusing on the energy sector
  • To network with and learn from other experienced managers from the energy and related sectors
  • Focus on global environmental issues and the development of existing and emerging renewable energy sources
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of fundamentals in energy management, energy technologies and industries, energy markets and trading and energy policy in major regions and countries

Executive Master in Energy Management

The Executive Master in Energy Management is an international part time programme, professionally oriented and designed to give participants a comprehensive understanding of key energy issues and improve their analytical and managerial skills. The Executive Master in Energy Management is suitable not only for those familiar with the energy industry, but also for participants with no experience in the field who wish to work in the sector. The programme consists of four two-week modules over 12 months, and starts in September 2010.

The energy sector is marked by increasing internationalisation, strong political regulation and heavy investments, which makes great demands on leadership. To meet these challenges and qualify managers, BI Norwegian School of Management, in cooperation with ESCP-EAP and IFP in Paris, has developed a management education programme for the energy sector. IFP School is the French Petroleum

Institute and one of the world's leading institutions in petroleum education. This programme will enable students to:

  • Understand the energy business environment and its fundamental economic and technological concepts
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of energy technologies, industries and markets
  • Develop and implement strategies to address major issues in energy regulation and policy
  • Focus on managerial issues and resources related to the energy sector
  • A cross-cultural and interactive learning environment that provides excellent international networking opportunities

Executive MBA in Shipping, Offshore and Finance

The Executive MBA in Shipping, Offshore and Finance programme is profession oriented and designed to give the participants an understanding of the key drivers, management challenges and different strategies in the shipping and offshore industry - by combining the latest research and theory in a practice oriented "hands-on" approach. This is a joint programme between BI Norwegian School of Management and Nanyang Business School. The programme starts in January 2011.
